“Game Of Thrones” Has Broken Records On The Number Of “Emmy” Award Nominations

American Television Academy “Emmy” on July, 16 announced nominees for the prestigious award, selected on the basis of the 2014-2015 TV season. This year the cult TV series “Game of Thrones” has become the undisputed champion. It received just 24 nominations, among them there is the most prestigious – “Outstanding Drama Series”.

By the number of nominations for the “Emmy” the TV series “American Horror Story” is at the following place, which presents in 19 categories. After them, there are such TV projects as “Olivia”(13 nominations) and “Bessie”(12). Series “Obvious”, “Mad Men” and “House of Cards” received 11 nominations.

For the award in the category “Best Drama Series” “Downton Abbey,” “Better Call Saul,” “Mad Men,” “Orange – hit of the season” and “House of Cards” will compete with “Game of Thrones”.

During the struggle for premium, the channel HBO received maximum nominations, as many as 126, on the television academy! Channel produced such series like “Boardwalk Empire,” “The Sopranos,” “True Detective” and “Six Feet Under.”

The series “Game of Thrones”, recall, was filmed basing on the novels “A Song of Ice and Fire” by the author George RR Martin. This TV series has been nominated for the “Emmy” as the best drama series twice. And in 2011, actor Peter Dinkleydzh, who played Tyrion Lannister in the “Game of Thrones”, as the Best Actor won the American Television Academy.

On September 20, 2015, winners of the award “Emmy” will be announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles.
